A van picked us up at our hotel @ 7:15am with fellow tourists & we headed to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market 1.5 hours away from Bangkok. We then took a long boat 20 minutes to the market. We passed through local homes along the river. The river is their source of life & work. Thailand Markets are "same same, but different" in their own right. We enjoyed time away from the city & saw our first elephant being ridden on the shoulder of the hwy. He wasn't eating peanuts, but he seamt cool. From the beginning we observed Thai people work very hard & we're gaining more perspective & appreciation from them.
5 am tmorrow we catch a bus + ferry to our first island of the trip.
You guys waste no time! Lucky you still have like 86 more days to play!!! If you can fit it in, my sister and I took a cooking class in Thailand and loved it! You get to learn to cook about 5 dishes and it usually includes a trip to a huge market to get supplies. If you both take the class then you get to try 10 different dishes if each of you choose 5 different items to try. My last one in Jan 2015 was at Chiang Mai. He picks you up if you stay within so many miles of the main gate. www.tomyumthaicooking.com The price includes the cook book so you don't have to take notes while cooking.
ReplyDeleteThanks Terry for the info. We plan on taking cooking lessons in Chiang Mai but probably towards the end of the month. Chiang Mai sounds like they have a lot of good cooking classes we've heard about many. We can't wait!
